Overview
RentBase connects landlords, agents, and renters around listings and lead qualification. Lean 3-person core team; I worked directly with the CEO (ex-Zillow lead). Owned the React/TypeScript portal, built NestJS modules for screening and related domain APIs, and helped keep the marketing site and admin panel in sync with product reality.
The Challenge
Onboarding spans agent → landlord → listing → renter → screening report. Manual regression before every deploy was eating the whole week.
Architectural Approach
Screening domain in NestJS
Implemented rental screening APIs — shareable landlords/properties, renter payloads, TransUnion notification handlers with IP guards — and surfaced TenantScreenings / ScreeningReports in the portal.
Portal ownership
Built TypeScript React flows for leads, listings, landlords, renters, team dashboard, follow-ups, Cognito/SAML auth hooks, and Google Maps listing context.
Lifecycle automation
Postman pre/post scripts walked renter → agent → listing → interest → report. Cypress covered critical UI paths so a 3-person team could ship without a dedicated QA hire.
